A Customized Solution to Keep Your Inventory on Track
A large transportation company located in the Northeastern United States was having challenges ensuring that their critical items were being ordered on time. And managing 46 locations was only complicating this issue. This company needed a solution that made sure all of their critical items were arriving on time, at the precise time their terminals needed them. Each terminal was responsible for tracking its inventory—not just forms, but all shipped items. The terminal manager had to ensure they had plenty of stock of all the critical forms that were used for their tracking process. At times, this was a challenge, since managers were often busy with other responsibilities, or others had used the last forms and failed to notify them of the low inventory. If employees depleted these forms, they would be required to expedite a special order for forms, which would cause them to incur additional costs, or worse, have to delay a delivery until the forms were received.

The solution consisted of the creation of an online portal to track critical forms, usage by item, location, date, and other important information. This information would now be available to the managers online 24/7.

This information would enable them to manage inventory effectively with minimal effort. This process enables us to ship to each terminal, all of the items needed for that terminal, on one pallet on a predetermined date. The manager doesn’t have to call, fax, or place the order—essentially having no need to remember to place the order. Ongoing monitoring and adjusting of shipments is another benefit as GBS constantly monitors your shipment trending. Each terminal can now focus on what they do best—expediting shipments to their customers
